Many historic relics have been explored along Yangtze River, such in Chengdu Plain, Three Gorges area, Ganzi area, Anning River and Yalong River. The most famous historic relic is Daxi Cultural relics of Mt. Wushan. After two times of excavations respectively in 1959 and 1975, 214 of tombs have been explored. It includes stone axe, stone mirror, stone chisel, fishhook, Arrow chain and spinning wheel and other funeral objects. In addition, many articles for daily use and decorations have also been found in different times of Neolithic Period.

Ancient Facts of Middle Reaches of Yangtze River

In Yangtze River history, the historic relics of Neolithic Period are distributed in different areas of middle reaches of Yangtze River, especially in Jianghan region. In Hubei Province, there are more than 450 historic relics of Neolithic Period have been found. Qujialing Cultural relics are representative of Neolithic Period features. Qujialing Culture features small color pottery, color spinning wheel and other artworks. Besides that, Qujialing Cultural Relics proves that the animal husbandry has been developed during Neolithic Period, for large numbers of rice and animal fossils were found. And the fishery industry has also been developed.

Ancient Facts of Lower Reaches of Yangtze River

In lower reaches of Yangtze River, the Hemudu Culture, Majiahong Culture and Liangzhu Culture are the mainly representatives during Neolithic Period.

Hemudu Culture of Hangzhou Bay has been found in 1973 after two times excavations. In the precious funeral objects, the piles of rice are the earliest artificial planting one in the world. Besides that, other funeral objects prove that people broke away from the slash-and-burn cultivation. In addition, many wooden buildings have been excavated, which is representative the earliest one in the world.

In ancient times of Yangtze River history, there is only few small boats shipping on the water. But now, after the completion of Three Gorges Dam Project, Yangtze Cruise is able to ship across the Yangtze River freely and frequently.
